It takes a Kiwanis Family to help many children

We recently assembled 500 Early Childhood Injury Prevention packets! The contents came from the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute, a project of the New England and Bermuda District of Kiwanis Clubs.

And we could not have done it without the St. Dominic Academy Builder Club and our Key Clubs at Leavitt Area High School, Lewiston High School and Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, and an in-process-of-chartering of the Edward Little High School Key Club. Look at all of the enthusiastic kids!

Early Childhood Injury Prevention Packets

Our club, along with our sponsored Key Clubs at Leavitt Area High School, Lewiston High School and Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, a Key Club being organized at Edward Little High School, and our sponsored Builders Club at St. Dominic Academy, put together 500 Early Childhood Injury Prevention packets (“Baby Bags”) recently. They look like this.

We donated them to Pediatric Associates of Lewiston and Stevens Memorial Hospital in Norway. Deb Brousseau and Jenn Dee of Pediatric Associates of Lewiston, accept the Baby Bags. One bag will be given out for newborn infants at their first wellness appointments. The parents and guardians all are tickled pink to get them!

Infant Safety Kits – created by Key Clubs, Builder Club and Kiwanis members

Key Clubs from Lewiston HS, Edward Little HS, Oxford Hills HS and a Builder’s Club from St Dominic Academy work with our Kiwanis Club to prepare about 400 Infant Safety Kits. They will be donated to pediatricians and health centers in Lewiston/Auburn and Oxford Hills. The clubs order their kits from the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute in Massachusetts which sends all the pieces – literature, outlet covers, and temperature ducky which lets new parents make sure that bath water temperature is appropriate.
